Are you a college student, retired or just someone looking for a way to give back? There is no minimum time commitment; we will work with your schedule.
Become a force for good
Our lives are not measured by what we get, but by what we give. If you have a natural gift for empathy and want to make a difference, we can help you be a force for good in the lives of those most in need.
Gentiva Hospice is looking for willing hearts to provide companionship and emotional support to patients with life limiting conditions and their caregivers. Our patients reside in homes, nursing homes and assisted living facilities all over Pinal County. How you serve and how often is completely up to you!
Here are a few examples of how our Direct Care Volunteers serve:
- Engage with our facility-based hospice patients through any of the following:
- Provide companionship and emotional support.
- Spending time with patients while their family runs errands
- Assisting with household chores or errands
- Supporting patients and families in the patient’s last hours
- Provide a listening ear.
- Encourage them to share life experiences.
- Play games (cards, board games, etc.)
- Watch TV with them.
- Read to them.
- Sing/play an instrument to them.
You choose how you want to serve and how often.
NO medical experience is needed as volunteers DO NOT perform nursing duties or dispense medication.
To become a volunteer, all you need is a compassionate heart. Our volunteer training will teach you everything you need to know to be a companion for someone during their end-of-life journey. You’ll learn valuable skills in grief counseling, spiritual and emotional support, and end-of-life care.
Please leave us your NAME, PHONE NUMBER and EMAIL ADDRESS so we can get in touch with you to discuss the benefits of being a Gentiva volunteer!
