Volunteer: Reading TutorMake a Real Difference in a Child’s Life Many Arizonans are concerned about the quality of education in our state. How would you like an opportunity to directly improve our schools and make a major difference in a child’s life? The Achieve Pinal Experience Corps provides everyone who is 50 years and older a chance to do just that! COVID-19 has had a devastating effect on elementary school student performance, especially reading ability. Poor reading skills will prevent students from reaching their potential. They will struggle throughout their school years and will be unable to qualify for career training or college. For many, this will continue the cycle of poverty for themselves and their children. AARP Experience Corps Achieve Pinal attacks this problem by utilizing trained volunteers, who tutor students to improve their reading skills. The tutors help students who need individual attention that our busy teachers are unable to give. Anyone who is 50+ can be a part of this successful effort. If you live in Pinal County, you can tutor in person. You can also tutor on your computer from the comfort of your home, anywhere in the United States. Please contact Kaitlin Burks at (520) 836-6868 or kaitlin@achievepinal.org for more information.
